Thigh Lift Surgery

Tighter thighs. More confident movement.

A thigh lift, or thighplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and tissue from the thighs to improve their shape and contour. Factors such as aging, significant weight loss, and genetic factors can contribute to loose, sagging skin along the inner or outer thighs that does not respond to diet or exercise. Thigh lift surgery tightens and reshapes the thighs for a smoother, firmer, and more sculpted appearance.

Every patient’s body and goals are unique. Dr. Ryan Constantine will work closely with you to design a surgical plan tailored to your needs. His goal is to deliver results that look refined, feel comfortable, and help patients feel more confident in their proportions.

Who Is a Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

Thigh lift surgery may be a good option if you:

  • Have loose or sagging skin on the thighs
  • Have excess thigh skin following significant weight loss
  • Feel self-conscious about the appearance of your thighs
  • Experience chafing or irritation from thighs rubbing together
  • Want smoother, firmer thigh contours that cannot be achieved through exercise alone

Candidates should be in good overall health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations about what the procedure can achieve. Ideal candidates are also at or near a stable body weight and understand that thigh lift surgery is designed to improve contour rather than promote weight loss.

Benefits of Thigh Lift Surgery

Patients who choose to undergo thigh lift surgery can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Improved thigh contour: Remove excess skin and tissue for smoother, firmer thighs.
  • Enhanced body proportions: Improve balance between the thighs and the rest of the body.
  • Thigh gap: In some individuals, achieve or widen the gap between the thighs (this depends heavily on bone structure and hip and muscle anatomy).
  • Greater clothing confidence: Feel more comfortable in shorts, swimwear, and fitted clothing.
  • Long-lasting results: Excess skin is permanently removed, providing lasting improvement (with a stable body weight).
  • Improved comfort: Reduce chafing, irritation, and discomfort caused by excess tissue.

About the Procedure

Thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes two to four hours, depending on the amount of correction needed. During the procedure, Dr. Constantine removes excess skin and tissue from the thighs and reshapes the remaining tissue to create smoother, firmer contours. Liposuction may also be performed to remove stubborn fat and further refine the shape of the thighs. Most patients return home the same day to begin recovery.

Surgical Techniques

Thigh lift surgery can be customized based on the location and extent of excess skin:

  • Inner Thigh Lift: Addresses loose skin and tissue along the inner thighs. Incisions are typically placed in the groin crease and may extend along the inner thigh, depending on the amount of correction required. This approach is most commonly used after significant weight loss or when excess skin causes chafing and discomfort.
  • Outer Thigh Lift: Focuses on the outer thighs and hips to improve contour and reduce sagging along the outer leg. Incisions are typically hidden along the upper hip or groin area. This approach can improve the transition between the thighs, hips, and lower body.

Liposuction may be combined with either approach to remove persistent fat and further define thigh contour. Dr. Constantine will recommend the technique that best matches your anatomy and goals while prioritizing natural-looking results and long-term comfort.

Recovery and Healing

Here is what most patients can expect for recovery after a thigh lift:

  • First week: Swelling, bruising, and soreness are common. Compression garments may be worn to support healing and reduce swelling.
  • One to two weeks: Most patients return to work and light activities.
  • Four to six weeks: Gradual return to exercise and more strenuous activity as cleared.
  • Three to six months: Swelling fully resolves, and final thigh contours become visible.

Dr. Constantine provides personalized recovery instructions and follow-up care to support optimal healing and long-lasting results.
